About the ETravelSim Dubai eSIM

The ETravelSim Dubai eSIM is a prepaid, data-only eSIM for the United Arab Emirates on the du 4G/5G network. Plans run from 1 GB for 7 days to unlimited data for 30 days, with validity from 5 to 30 days. Unlimited plans give 4 GB of high-speed data per day, then continue at 1 Mbps until the daily allowance resets.

You receive the QR code by email within minutes. Install it at home on Wi-Fi: it activates the first time it connects in the UAE, so your plan days don't start until you land. It works across all seven emirates, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

Choose a GB plan if you need to share data with a laptop or another phone, because hotspot is allowed on GB plans only. Choose Unlimited if you stream, upload or video-call on one phone. WhatsApp and FaceTime voice and video calls work on every plan, and your home SIM stays active alongside the eSIM for SMS and bank OTPs.

How does Dubai/UAE eSIM work?

After purchasing an ETravelSim product, customers will receive a unique QR code via email. This code is provided to the registered email ID used during the purchase. The email will also contain detailed instructions on how to install the product. To begin using the product, scan the QR code.

How will I get the QR code for my purchase?

Once you have booked the eSIM, you can expect to receive the QR code to your registered email ID almost instantly. This will come with a guide for installing the QR code, SMDP address, and activation code. Once the QR code is installed, you are good to go.

What is an eSIM?

An eSIM, or embedded Subscriber Identity Module, is a virtual SIM card integrated into devices like smartphones and smartwatches. Unlike physical SIM cards, eSIMs are programmed remotely, enabling easy network switching and activation without needing physical swaps. They offer flexibility for changing carriers and plans, convenient international travel connectivity, and the management of multiple numbers on one device. While not universally supported, eSIM technology reduces the reliance on physical cards and simplifies the user experience by allowing remote provisioning of cellular services.

Does an eSIM work in Dubai?

Yes. The ETravelSim Dubai eSIM runs on du, one of the UAE's two national networks, and works in all seven emirates. Buy it online, install it before you fly and it connects when you land.

What Dubai eSIM plans are available?

ETravelSim sells 1 GB for 7 days; 3, 5, 10, 20 or 50 GB for 30 days; and Unlimited for 5, 7, 10, 15 or 30 days.

Which plan should I choose for a 1-week Dubai trip?

For maps, ride-hailing and messaging, 5 GB is usually enough. If you upload video or work remotely, choose Unlimited 7 Days for 4 GB/day at full speed.

Is the unlimited plan really unlimited?

Data never runs out, but speed is managed: you get 4 GB/day at full 4G/5G speed, then 1 Mbps until the allowance resets 24 hours later.

What can I still do at 1 Mbps?

Google Maps, WhatsApp messages, email, ride-hailing apps and standard-definition streaming work at 1 Mbps. HD video and large uploads will be slow.

Is 4 GB/day better than other unlimited eSIMs?

Many unlimited UAE eSIMs give 3 GB/day at high speed. ETravelSim gives 4 GB/day, one-third more full-speed data each day.

Can I use hotspot or tethering?

Yes, on the 1–50 GB plans. Unlimited plans are for one device and don't support hotspot.

Does the Dubai eSIM include a phone number?

No. It is data-only. Keep your home SIM active for SMS and OTPs, and make calls with WhatsApp or FaceTime over the eSIM's data.

Do WhatsApp and FaceTime calls work in the UAE with this eSIM?

Yes. WhatsApp and FaceTime voice and video calls work on the ETravelSim Dubai eSIM, along with messaging, photos and voice notes. Many local UAE SIMs restrict these calls.

Does it cover Abu Dhabi and Sharjah?

Yes. It covers the whole UAE: Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain.

Does it work in Oman, Saudi Arabia or Qatar?

No. This eSIM covers the UAE only. ETravelSim sells separate Oman, Saudi Arabia and Qatar eSIMs.

When should I install it?

Install it at home on Wi-Fi a day or two before you fly. The plan starts only when the eSIM first connects in the UAE.

When does my plan's validity start?

On first connection to a UAE network, not at purchase or installation.

How fast will I get the QR code?

By email, usually within minutes of payment, together with the SM-DP+ address and activation code for manual entry.

How do I install it on iPhone?

Go to Settings → Mobile Service (or Cellular) → Add eSIM → Use QR Code. On arrival, select the eSIM for mobile data and turn on Data Roaming for that line.

How do I install it on Android?

On Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM Manager → Add eSIM, then scan the QR code. On Pixel: Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → Add eSIM.

Do I need to turn on data roaming?

Yes, on the eSIM line only. Leave roaming off on your home SIM to avoid charges.

Is my phone compatible?

It must be eSIM-capable and carrier-unlocked. iPhone XR/XS and newer, Pixel 3 and newer, and Galaxy S20 and newer support eSIM. Dial *#06#: if you see an EID, eSIM is supported.

Can I keep my home SIM active?

Yes. Dual SIM lets you keep your number for calls, SMS and bank OTPs while the eSIM handles data.

Do I need a passport or Emirates ID?

No documents are needed. ETravelSim may ask for ID only if the payment provider flags a transaction.

How do I check my data balance?

Log in to your ETravelSim account with your purchase email and tap View Balance next to the order, or email support@etravelsim.com with your order number.

Can I top up?

Yes. Buy a recharge on the ETravelSim website, or email support with your order number and the team will top up the same eSIM.

What happens when my data or days run out?

On GB plans, data stops until you top up. On Unlimited plans, speed drops to 1 Mbps after the daily allowance, and service ends when the validity period ends.

What if the eSIM doesn't connect when I land?

Check that the eSIM line is selected for mobile data and that data roaming is on for that line, then restart your phone. If it still fails, message 24/7 WhatsApp support on +65 9236 1258.
