What is a travel eSIM?
A travel eSIM is a digital SIM that you download to your phone instead of inserting a plastic card. ETravelSim travel eSIMs give you mobile data in 190+ countries, and you keep your physical SIM, number and WhatsApp for calls and texts. Your phone must support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked.
How do I install the eSIM on an iPhone?
Connect to Wi-Fi, open Settings → Mobile Service (or Cellular) → Add eSIM, and scan the QR code from your email. If you only have one phone, choose Enter Details Manually and paste the codes from the email. When you land, set the ETravelSim line as your mobile data line.
Which plan should I buy?
- Choose unlimited data for heavy use such as streaming and maps all day, or a data pack (GB) for short trips and light use. Every plan that includes call minutes also comes with a phone number, e.g. +44 (UK), or +33 on the Morocco Orange plan. Data-only plans have no number.
How do I activate the eSIM?
After payment, your QR code arrives by email within minutes. Scan it before you travel, on Wi-Fi, and switch mobile data to the ETravelSim line when you arrive. If anything goes wrong, contact us on chat or WhatsApp, 24/7.
How long is my plan valid, and when does it start?
Each plan shows its validity in days before you buy. Validity starts on the plan’s first connection, not at purchase or installation, so installing early does not cost you any days.
How do I top up?
Many plans, e.g. Europe, can be recharged on the website or in the app. Some destinations, e.g. Japan and Vietnam, need a new eSIM instead. The product page tells you which applies.
Should I buy before I travel or when I arrive?
Before you travel is best: buy and install at home on Wi-Fi, so you are online the moment you land. Validity only starts on the first connection, so you lose no days. You can also buy on arrival if you have Wi-Fi.
How do I check my data balance?
For most plans, in the ETravelSim app. For the rest, email support@etravelsim.com with your order number and we will send it to you.
How does unlimited data work, and can I use hotspot?
Unlimited means you never run out of data. The daily full-speed allowance depends on the destination: for example, 4 GB/day then 1 Mbps in Dubai, Egypt, Morocco and India; 5 GB/day then 2 Mbps in Turkey; no daily cap in Japan and Thailand. Hotspot works on every data pack (GB). On unlimited plans it is allowed in some destinations (e.g. Thailand), has its own quota in others (e.g. Japan: 6–30 GB depending on days) and is not included in others (e.g. Turkey, Morocco, India). Each product page shows the details before you buy.
Do I need to upload ID?
No. In rare cases our payment provider flags an order for a fraud check, and we may then ask for verification.
